Soldered Charms

Procrastinating!!!

Do you procrastinate??

I know I do, let me tell you a story :) and hopefully I won't bore you too much :)

For quite a while now I've been wanting try my hand at making soldered charms. I stumbled upon Cathy Pentons blog Simple Things Small Joys and I was just so captivated by these beautiful charms. I told my friends and family about these charms and how I was going to try and make them, I was so excited. Now, I didn't have a clue as to what I needed to do or get so I emailed Cathy and she was just so lovely and helpful, from there I started getting the tools I needed. That was all back in June of 2009. Talk about procrastinating!!! I sat on all of this for the longest time because I didn't want to fail, I was scared that I wasn't going to do a good enough job. It wasn't till recently that a wonderful friend gave me a gentle nudge and put her order in for her daughters birthday. Sorry, but I forgot to get a pic of the charm but I did get a pic of a charm that I made recently for that same friends birthday.
Now me being me still thinks I stink at making charms but I do have to give myself a break. Cathy, shared with me that making charms isn't one of those crafts that you can start making them tomorrow and they're perfect...I had forgotten about that wonderful piece of advice until I came across her email again recently. So I'm going to be a bit nicer to myself and get back to it and just keep on practicing.
I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed LOTS of practice!!

Have a fantastic day, Sweet Lovelies!!

Hello Melly,

Oh yes I do that too LOL. Especially when insecurity and fear creep in. But I found that even if I only have ideas, it's good to share it to someone dear to you so when things don't go out as planned, you'll have the support and encouragement you need :-) See, I had a plan but it has not yet been realized. I''ve researched and read and read about it. Now, it is just a matter of realizing it :-) Hopefully soon :-)

Speaking of soldered charms, I have met ladies who does it and I have seen creations using such technique. I can see why you became fascinated by it. Good for you for finally doing it. From what I'm seeing in the photo, all I can say is you shouldn't be hard on yourself. I thnk what you have created for your friend is just romantic (love the blue and roses you used too :-) )

MIzpah,
Li

Hi Sweet Melly -
I think you did a fabulous job on your charm....it's beautiful. I have to confess, I have been wanting to make charms since last year also, but, like you, I'm afraid of failing. You just gave me the inspiration to try it. As the saying goes....practice makes perfect :) and I think your charm is perfect.
